A full day exploring Nairobi’s best-loved conservation and cultural sites. Visit the Giraffe Centre to meet and feed Rothschild’s giraffes, and step into the former home of author Karen Blixen at the Karen Blixen Museum. Lunch is taken at the charming Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, with time to sample freshly brewed Kenyan coffee. The evening closes with a welcome cocktail at the hotel.

Depart after breakfast for Samburu National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive in search of the rare wildlife found only north of the equator, including the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and Grevy’s zebra.

A full day of game viewing with both morning and afternoon drives through Samburu and neighbouring Shaba Reserve. The Ewaso Nyiro River sustains an abundance of life here, and sightings often include elephant, lion, buffalo and, with some luck, leopard along its banks.

An early breakfast precedes the drive south to Lake Nakuru, one of the Great Rift Valley’s most celebrated lakes and seasonal home to vast flocks of flamingo. After lunch at your lodge, an afternoon game drive offers a good chance of spotting both black and white rhino, along with lion, hippo, the rare Rothschild’s giraffe and prolific birdlife. This morning you travel to the world-famous Maasai Mara, Kenya’s premier reserve and stage for the annual wildebeest migration. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive through the rolling plains that make the Mara one of Africa’s richest wildlife arenas.

A full day exploring the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives across its open savannah and acacia-dotted plains, home to one of Kenya’s largest lion populations. Guests wishing to view the reserve from above may arrange an optional hot air balloon safari at first light, followed by a champagne breakfast on the plains (at an extra cost).

Another full day of game viewing, with the option to repeat the hot air balloon safari for those who wish to see the plains from a different vantage point. Along the Mara River, look for crocodile and hippo, while the surrounding woodlands are favoured by leopard and elephant. The evening is spent at camp with a traditional Maasai dance performance.
